Things That Made Me Happy This Week - May 7, 2010
I haven’t done one of these posts in quite a while, and I think it’s about time to bring it back! So, without further ado….
• A lovely dinner at my mother-in-law and Lisa’s. Always fun hanging out with those two!
• We finished moving! Our new place is closer to both of our offices and is working out quite nicely.
• I finally completed work on Jone’s fundraising website www.FriendsofJone.com. Best of all, Wendie and Jone thought I did a good job!
• A wonderful phone conversation with the lovely Jone.
• Seeing so many people in Jone’s life looking for ways to give back to her and thank her for everything she’s done for them.
• Trish received her case of Chobani from the contest and did great in her half marathon - 2nd woman overall - 1.26.34 - two seconds faster than last year.
• Bob got his first paying photography gig! He was hired to take headshots of everyone on staff at my office, and did a great job :)
• I finally seem to be getting over this cold – sleeping at night is a good thing.
• A sweet note from Connie, checking in because she hadn’t heard from me in a while.
• Talked to my dad about creating a website for his restaurant. Looking forward to it!
• Discovering Great Harvest Bread Company. Oh my.
Some thoughts about my conversation with Jone:
We talked a bit about her lessons in all of this cancer chaos. One of those lessons for her, and for Wendie, is to learn to receive. Jone expressed to me just how overwhelming it’s been for her to experience such an outpouring of love and kindness. To me, it just makes sense. You spend your life giving and doing for others, it’s only natural that they will want to return the favor. I know Jone has not gone about her life thinking “well let me do this for this person because some day I will need them”. Of course not. She was just being herself. And that’s one of the many reasons she’s so loved – by me and so many others.
