How cute is this design? I know that taste and nutrition are more important but seriously... so cute! It reminds me a little bit of Late July's design.

Ok, down to business. What's a Bumble Bar? Founder Elizabeth Ward created this sesame based snack after she noticed that so many of her fellow hikers (she used to hike 8 miles a day!) were eating snacks out on the trails that were not organic, or that were dairy based. Her desire to develop an organic, gluten-free product led her to what is now the Bumble Bar.

As I mentioned, Bumble Bars are gluten and dairy free. But they're also dairy free and pesticide free. What they DO have is fiber, calcium, EFAs and Omega 3s!

Liz sent me several flavors to sample, but my favorites were Chai with Almonds, Chocolate (of course!) and Chunky Cherry.

The texture is soft, not too crunchy though it does have a little "pop"... the flavor is sweet, and not like anything I've ever tasted before. Check out the ingredients in the Chai with Almonds:

(All Ingredients are Gluten-Free) Organic Sesame Seeds, Organic Brown Rice Syrup, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Organic Peanuts, Organic Flax Seeds , Organic Vanilla Extract, Organic Cinnamon, Sea Salt, Natural Vitamin E for freshness. Processing agents: Organic Sunflower and/or Safflower Oil.

And check out the nutritional info:

This is a snippet of Bumble Bar's mission , which I find very impressive:

"We at BumbleBar take much pride in making delicious, certified-organic, gluten-free snacks. We also care a great deal about doing the right thing for people and the planet. The People, Profit, Planet concept is one that has been growing in popularity among socially responsible businesses in the past several years. People, Profit, Planet represents the "triple bottom line" of sustainable business talk. All three concepts are intertwined -- if one suffers, they all suffer. People means that we work hard to create a great environment for our employees and develop wonderful relationships with our suppliers and our customers."

The website is very user-friendly. You can place orders directly from the site and see where you can find Bumble Bars locally. It also includes nutritional information, which I always find useful.
